Who We Are and What We Do

Located in Tucson, Arizona, Mirasol's unique treatment facilities offer an alternative approach to eating disorder recovery, with a success rate twice the industry average.

Dedicated to complete recovery, our programs help women acknowledge the past, live in the present, and learn to create the rich, full lives they deserve.

We believe that eating disorders are the result of chronic stress and trauma. Consequently, we emphasize therapies that have proven successful in the treatment of other stress-related conditions. Mirasol's multidisciplinary treatment team consists of practitioners from traditional psychiatry, psychotherapy, and medicine who work closely with practitioners of complementary medicine.

We do not focus on behavior extinction, nor do we impose an external structure (for example, a diet) that may work in the short term but backfire once the old stressors creep back into the system. We prefer to identify the root of the problem and then develop new ways of communicating and coping that restore and maintain overall balance. We believe that the skills we teach are more effective and longer lasting than restrictive protocols. We offer the opportunity to practice those new skills in a safe environment that supports change. Treatment at Mirasol can be an important time to start eating and communicating in a way that nurtures the brain, inspires creativity, and encourages a more positive perspective.

Our eating disorder treatment program is holistic in nature and deeply spiritual, with emphasis on the mind, body, spirit, and soul.

We help the client discover her own unique identity. What kind of woman is she, or does she want to be, when she no longer has an eating disorder?

In addition, we offer programs for overcoming binge eating disorder and obesity.

Accreditation - Mirasol has been fully licensed by the Arizona Board of Behaviorial Health since 1999. In July, 2006, we also obtained certification by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
